Arkansas SelectChoosing plants for your garden is perplexing because of the large number of choices available. To help gardeners in this task, the horticulture faculty of the Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service and leaders in the Arkansas Green Industry Association initiated a program in 1998 to identify interesting and superior plants for Arkansas gardeners. The program, called Arkansas Select, highlights outstanding plants for a variety of growing conditions in your garden. When choosing the perfect plant for your garden, don’t forget to look for Arkansas Select winners from previous years. Plants in the program were nominated and selected by industry leaders because they have been found to do well throughout the state. They are generally considered pest free and easy to grow. Arkansas Select plants will be available from greenhouses, nurseries and garden centers across the state. Look for these and previous Arkansas Select plants at your local garden retailers! |
